I'm so excited about this I could squeeee! (Actually I just did. Also I might have peed a little with my squee. Don't tell anyone.)
Cathy's Creations is offering a BOGO Christmas special for the entire month of October! Buy one bracelet, get one of equal or lesser value half off!
I'm trying to get my Christmas work done early so that I won't be swamped by the time December rolls around. And admit it; wouldn't it be great to have your Christmas shopping done and have gifts delivered straight to your door by November?
Here's what you do:
1. Go to Cathy's Creations on etsy.
2. Pick out your two favorite bracelets. Or 4. Or 6. Or 24. There's no limit, just make sure it's an even number so you can get your BOGO!
3. Enter the code BOGO10 in the "Message to Seller" section at checkout.
4. Pay for both bracelets, then wait for me to refund the discount amount through paypal (which I will do within 24 hours).
5. Allow 4 weeks for delivery. Yes, I know it's a long time, but these are Christmas gifts, right? I mean, you don't want them around TOO early, or you'll get too excited and give them away before Christmas! Or you'll decide you want them yourself, and have to start shopping all over again! I just need to allow myself enough time to finish a large number of orders, and since I put my absolute best into every single bracelet, feeling rushed is never good.
Ok. Now go! Get! Go to Cathy's Creations and start choosing your bracelets! Doh, it's still September, isn't it? Well go choose your bracelets and set yourself an alarm to come back and order them in a couple of days!

Some business and new info on special orders
Holla, Frikes!
2 things:
First, I need to point out some new shop policy information on my etsy site, found here:
Cathy's Creations Etsy shop policies
There you will find information about wait-time, shipping, payment methods and more.
For future reference, this information can be found on my Etsy page under Shop Info.
Second, I have a new procedure for special orders.
There are two ways to request custom-made bracelets: through email (click on Contact Me above for my address); or through Etsy Alchemy (which is actually sort of cool, also found under Shop Info). After we've agreed on style, colors and price, I'll set up a reserved custom listing under your name on Etsy. You pay for the listing, and I make the bracelet. I promise you'll be satisfied with your bracelet or I'll redo it.
There are a couple of reasons for doing things this way: I've had a few people request specific bracelets with charms that wouldn't appeal to anyone but them and then not bought the bracelet. When that happens, I'm out the money for the charm and a bracelet that no one wants to buy. Also, this helps me keep track of my custom sales along with my other Etsy sales.
Sorry for all the boring stuff, I just have to get this out of the way so that my procedures are clear. Have a great day!

Ethan
This is Ethan's mom, Tiburon.
She's biking 100 miles to help raise funds to find a cure for Diabetes.
100 miles!
Here are some of her thoughts about being a parent of a child with Type 1 Diabetes:
is hard.
is scary.
is challenging.
is a different experience everyday.
feels like you are walking on a tightrope.
makes you really good with numbers.
and insulin.
and shots.
means saying "no" quite a bit.
requires a whole new set of vocabulary. Bolus and basal and ketones oh my!
makes you able to smell when blood sugar is high.
turns you into a "planner".
is frustrating.
means putting the maximum into your flexible spending account to cover pump supplies, Endocrinologist co-pays and ER co-pays.
makes you repeat the same questions 28 times a day. "Have you checked your sugar?"
means waking up in the middle of the night. A lot.
means a phone call from school every day at 12:35 to hear a blood sugar number - then a quick calculation of what is being eaten for lunch so a carb count can be entered into a pump.
means carrying a snack.
and glucagon.
requires collecting urine in a paper cup on occasion.
practically requires a degree in chemistry. And nutrition. And nursing.
is infuriating. You haven't lived until a complete stranger has chewed you out in the middle of a McDonald's because you ordered your 5 year old a Diet Coke. "Why would you put a child on a diet!? What kind of mother does that?!?!" Oh I dunno...maybe the kind of mother that doesn't want to give her child unnecessary sugar.
sometimes means you have to miss or leave functions/events because your child is having an insulin reaction.
gives you something to fight for.
This is my Diabetes awareness bracelet (now named the Ethan Bracelet):
From now until Tib's ride November 20th, proceeds from the sale of this bracelet will go straight to her and her Ride. You can purchase it here: Ethan Bracelet on Etsy
If you want to donate to Tib directly, you can do that here: Tib's page on JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes
The Ethan Bracelet will also be available in an online auction on Tib's blog in late September. I'm sure she'll have some great stuff, so I'll make sure to post an update when the date is sure. (You should check out Tib's blog, anyway. She's funny and somewhat obsessed with John Mayer.)

Right church, wrong pew...
Sometimes it's a smell . Sometimes it's a sound. Today it was a sight. The sight of my little guys school. Memories came flooding back.
You see, I have a 22 year old that attended the same school. I went to the "Junior High" right next door that shared the same cafeteria. The same cafeteria that we had our "school dances". Memories all came back from my childhood and my oldest sons....
The most cherished memory is walking outside the school back to the car. I can see my mom and dad picking up my first born because I was working. I can see my mom packing a treat to bring to school to give him when she picked him up. I can also see her walking up to the wrong child, giving him a big hug and kiss and handing him a bag of M&M's, as my first born watched his grandmother from afar.
She never did take back the bag of M&M's but instead stopped of at the store and pick up a new bag for her own grandson...
Right church, wrong pew...mom...
Miss you <3
